Resistance Training Vs Cardio: What's best to improve mental wellbeing?

Hello, and welcome to another edition of Wellbeing Wednesday! This week, we're diving into the debate between resistance training and cardio. We all know that both forms of exercise offer fantastic benefits, but let's explore the differences and see which one might be the right fit for you…

Resistance Training and Cardio: A Dynamic Duo for Mental Wellbeing

First and foremost, it's essential to recognise that both resistance training and cardio have a remarkable impact on our mental health. These exercises not only help you shed pounds, but they're also powerful mood boosters. However, we want to emphasise that losing weight is just a bonus (for some): nothing truly compares to the emotional and psychological rewards of an active lifestyle.

A Healthy Mind in a Strong Body

Resistance training, with its focus on strength and muscle building, has been shown to enhance self-esteem and body image. As you watch your body grow stronger, your mental strength also improves. It's like a potent elixir for self-confidence!

On the other hand, cardio, with its heart-pounding rhythms, releases endorphins that can lift your mood and alleviate stress. It's like nature's own antidepressant. Cardio could be going for a run, cycling, going for a walk or having a daily step goal, or dancing.

Do you exercise to help improve your mental wellbeing? If you haven't tried it yet, have you considered how effective it can be? We would love to hear your thoughts!

 What's Your Go To Activity?

Whether it's the gym, a brisk run, cycling through the scenic routes, a peaceful walk in the park, or even dancing in your living room, the options are endless. We'd love to know what your favourite activities are when it comes to improving your mental well-being. Share your thoughts with us!

Remember, there's no one-size-fits-all answer when it comes to choosing between resistance training and cardio. It's all about what makes you feel your best. So, go out there, get active, and embrace the well-being benefits of exercise.

🍏 Good Food Matters 🥦

We can't talk about well-being without mentioning nutrition. While healthy eating is vital, it's equally important to enjoy your meals. Don't demonise foods like carbs – they have their place in a balanced diet.

And now, for a quick and delicious fakeaway recipe to nourish both your body and mind!

Fakeaway Sweet Potato Fries with Zesty Avocado Dip
